Sports odds desk FAQ

Updated 2026-09-1513 questions
Where do these sportsbook odds come from?

CasinoDrop collects prices directly from the public sportsbook feeds we cover. Betby supplies the event and market structure for its tenants; each book can set its own prices. Shuffle supplies its own fixture and market responses. Stake prices are captured from its own sportsbook pages. The coverage panel lists what each source actually returned and when it was last checked. We do not copy odds or rankings from another comparison site, and an unavailable source contributes no current prices.

Feed data is published under CC BY 4.0: reuse it freely, credit casinodrop.com and link the licence.

What does sportsbook hold mean here?

Here, hold means the price-implied margin: add one divided by each decimal price, then subtract one. Two outcomes both priced at 1.91 imply about 4.71% hold. This is a description of the offered prices for that market, not the percentage of stakes a book actually kept. It does not measure realised profit, predict the result or tell you how often your own bets will win.

How are the books ranked?

Sharpest uses the lowest hold across the complete main markets priced by a book in the selected sport. Typical uses the median of those holds, so one unusual market has less influence. Moneyline uses the median hold of moneyline markets only. Lower values mean less price-implied margin in that sample. Different books cover different events; this is an observed comparison, not a controlled test of identical betting portfolios.

How is the best price for an outcome chosen?

We compare decimal prices for the same event, market, line and settlement scope, then highlight the highest price for each outcome. A handicap of minus one is separate from minus one and a half; a regulation winner is separate from a market that includes overtime. All prices are shown with their book. A price can change before the book opens, so check the actual bet slip and rules.

What does the arbitrage badge mean?

An arbitrage badge appears only when the sum of the reciprocal best prices is below one across a complete, matched set of outcomes from at least two books. The displayed legs show the books, prices and proportional stake allocation. Indicative prediction-market quotes, overlapping outcomes and markets with push or split-stake rules are excluded. Apparent returns above 15% are withheld for mismatch review rather than advertised.

Why can an arbitrage opportunity disappear?

Books update at different times. A price may move, an outcome may be suspended, or a book may limit or reject a stake while another leg has already been accepted. Settlement rules can also matter. The displayed return is a calculation from captured prices, not a promise that every leg can be placed. Arbitrage does not remove execution risk, fees, account restrictions or the need to read the rules.

Why is a book marked limited sample?

A book with fewer than 20 complete priced main markets in a sport is marked limited sample and placed after qualifying books. A low hold on one or two matches is too narrow a sample to support a broad ranking. The market count is shown beside the name. A book can qualify in soccer and remain limited in another sport because coverage is assessed separately for each sport.

Which sportsbooks are compared?

The latest index reports 24 sportsbooks with published prices on this desk. Actual coverage depends on source responses, sport and market. The Book coverage and freshness panel shows the available sources and their capture times; it does not promise that every source is online.

How fresh are the prices?

Scheduled source collection: 4 sources every 60 seconds; 2 sources every 120 seconds; 1 source every 180 seconds; 17 sources every 300 seconds. These are collection targets, not quote ages. Rate limits and failed requests can delay a source. Separately, this page checks the published feed every 60 seconds, or every 15 seconds while a live match is visible. Each live price shows the age of that book's captured quote. Books without an update for more than ten minutes are greyed with an as-of time and excluded from current comparisons.

What does the price history show?

History records changes we observe for each event, book, market and outcome. The chart keeps up to seven days of movements and preserves the opening observation separately. Long series are reduced to at most 200 displayed points per line, so the chart is a readable summary of our captures. Opening means the first price CasinoDrop captured, which may be later than the book first offered the market.

How are events matched across providers?

Betby tenants share event identifiers, which lets their prices be matched exactly. Other providers are compared using the same sport, normalised home and away names, reviewed aliases, compatible status and kickoff times within 30 minutes. Ambiguous or reversed-team matches remain separate for review. A similar spelling alone is not enough to combine two events, and unmatched events keep only their own source prices.

How do decimal, American, fractional and implied formats differ?

Decimal prices include the returned stake: 2.50 represents 2.50 total returned per unit staked on a winning bet. The same price is +150 American, 3/2 fractional and 40.0% implied probability. Negative American odds show the amount staked to win 100 units. Changing the display does not change the underlying price, margin or comparison. Implied probability includes the book’s pricing margin and is not an independent forecast.

Who is this tool for, and how can I stay in control?

This tool is for adults aged 18+ where sports betting is legal. It is an information tool, not a recommendation to place a bet. Set limits before betting, use money you can afford to lose and never chase losses. If betting stops being enjoyable, pause and use the operator’s limit or self-exclusion tools. Comparing prices cannot make an unaffordable bet affordable or remove the risk of losing your stake.

Every price on this desk was captured from a sportsbook's public feed and is shown with its book and age; CasinoDrop takes no bets and holds no funds. Check the book's slip before staking. The classic board stays at sports odds comparison; related data: price boosts, live sports bets, prediction markets. Gamble responsibly · 18+.
