How this is worked out

The formulas behind every number. A model, not advice.

Your pay and the stretch

Pay per hour: per stream, pay × streams ÷ hours a week; per week, pay ÷ hours a week; per month, pay ÷ (hours a week × 4.33). Other income is spread the same way.

A stretch is a stream (hours ÷ streams), a week or a month (4.33 weeks), at first your pay’s own (paid by the hour: a week). Its pay P and rounds R set the safer bet and the bad stretch; the headline bet is the same over any.

The house edge after bonuses

House edge = (100 − RTP) × (1 − the share given back as rakeback and VIP bonuses). At 96% RTP with 10% back: 4% × 0.9 = 3.6% of every bet.

Expected loss and net

Expected loss an hour = bet × rounds an hour × house edge, already net of bonuses (Bonuses back shows what came back). Expected net = pay + other income − expected loss. $10 spins at 600 an hour and 3.6% lose $216 of a $500 hour and keep $284.

How far a stretch can swing

One round swings σ bets (the spread table). Over n rounds: bet × σ × √n. Chance of a net loss = 1 − Φ(expected net ÷ spread), Φ the normal curve; the 80% range is expected net ± 1.28 spreads.

The headline bet and the safer bet

Bet up to = (1 − the share you keep) × P ÷ (R × house edge): its expected loss is exactly the share you agreed to lose. Keep 50% and the headline spends 50% of the pay on average; about half of stretches keep less.

Safer bet = (1 − the share you keep) × P ÷ (R × house edge + 1.2816 × σ × √R): your share in 9 stretches out of 10. Break-even = income per hour ÷ (rounds an hour × house edge). Every “up to” rounds down: whole dollars from $2, cents below, $5,000 at most.

The spread we assume

Every game at the high volatility most streamers play: Hacksaw, Nolimit City and Pragmatic Play slots with 5,000×–100,000× max wins (25 a spin), their bonus buys (10 a buy; your bet is the buy cost), Originals at 100× targets at any speed (about 9.9) and live game shows (6).

GameSpread of one round, in bets
Slots (spins) 25.0 Hacksaw, Nolimit City and Pragmatic Play, 5,000×–100,000× max wins
Slots (bonus buys) 10.0 high-volatility buys
Originals (any speed) 9.9 100× targets
Live games 6.0 game shows

Originals at RTP p: σ = √(p·100 − p²). A mix pools its parts: √(Σ share × σ² × rounds an hour ÷ Σ share × rounds an hour). A calmer game swings less, so for it the safer bet errs on the safe side.

Bankroll and wagering targets

Bankroll gone at month end = 1 − Φ((bankroll + the month’s expected net) ÷ the month’s spread). It looks at the month’s end only: a dip to zero partway through the month is likelier. Bankroll for 95% of months = 1.645 × the month’s spread − its expected net, at least $0: enough to cover 19 month-ends in 20. A monthly wagering target forces a bet of at least target ÷ (rounds an hour × hours a month); its expected loss is the deal’s hidden price.

Where the casino figures come from

Stake’s 3.5% rakeback is from our Stake review; Shuffle’s 5% is its published rate, and its Regular tier adds weekly and monthly bonuses as our Shuffle bonus calculators model them (5% and 10% of the edge). Every other share is an estimate from public programme pages, September 2026: use Custom if you know yours.

What it leaves out

The spread uses a normal curve; real slot results are lopsided, so a month can land outside the range. The welcome offer is shown alone, never added to monthly figures. A casino-funded balance puts no pay at risk and burns at the raw house edge (rakeback is rarely paid on promotional balance); a viewer betting their own money gets none of your results.

Edge calculator FAQ

Updated 5 questions
How much should I bet on stream?

As much as spends the share of your pay you agree to lose, on average. On $500 an hour of 96% slots with 10% of the edge given back, keeping half means spins of about $11 (the safer bet is about $1.50).

How much does rakeback change the answer?

In proportion: 25% back on a 4% edge leaves 3%, so the headline bet grows by a third. Most casino figures are estimates, so use Custom if you know yours.

Why can a month end below zero when my average is positive?

Variance: the bigger the bet, the wider a month lands either side of the average. At $20 spins on $500 an hour, nearly half of all months end below zero.

Why can a week end far below my keep target?

The headline bet spends your agreed share on average, so about half of all weeks keep less than your share. For 9 weeks in 10, use the safer bet: about $1.55 a spin against $14 on $15,000 a week at Shuffle.
