The developer of the Bitcoin-focused defi platform ALEX Lab suspects that North Korean hackers, specifically the Lazarus Group, are behind the recent $4 million attack. ALEX Lab’s official account stated that there is substantial evidence linking the attack to the notorious cybercrime group.
Security Breach Leads to Loss of $4.3 Million in Tokens
In a major security breach in mid-May, ALEX Lab suffered a loss of over $4.3 million in various tokens due to an attack on its bridging service. Despite initial efforts to identify the perpetrator and offer a reward for the return of stolen funds, the post addressing the incident was later removed without explanation.
ALEX Lab’s Response and Future Security Measures
The ALEX Lab team is actively working with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to recover the lost assets and enhance its security protocols. Launched in 2021 by former bankers Chiente Hsu and Rachel Yu, ALEX Lab aims to simplify decentralized finance services on Bitcoin via the Stacks platform, with a total fundraising amount of $18.3 million.
