Blockchain Investigator Alerts Community to Scam Meme Coin Promotion on Solana
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has raised concerns about a scam meme coin promotion involving several major X accounts on Solana. The compromised accounts, including those of Yahoo News UK, Lenovo India, Money Control, and People, were used to promote the fake meme coin. X accounts under the names Alexander Lacazette and Oliver Stone also participated in endorsing the scam token named HACKED.
ZachXBT Provides Update on Scammers’ Potential Losses
ZachXBT shared an update indicating that the scammers behind the fake meme coin promotion on Solana may have incurred losses. The top traders involved in the scam reportedly made minimal profits, with the market cap of the token being relatively low. To safeguard against such schemes, ZachXBT advises users to review and revoke connections to unfamiliar sites or applications.
Previous Cases of X Account Compromises for Fake Cryptocurrency Promotions
This recent incident is not isolated, as hackers have previously infiltrated X accounts for promoting fake cryptocurrencies. In the past, the X account of French football star Kylian Mbappe was used to promote a fake MBAPPE meme coin, resulting in significant losses for traders. Similarly, hackers targeted the X accounts of family members of former U.S. president Donald Trump to push a fraudulent ‘World Liberty Financial’ project, coinciding with the official launch of Trump’s crypto initiative on September 16.
