Bitcoin L2 Network Launch Announcement
ZKM recently announced the launch of GOAT Network, a Bitcoin layer-2 network set to go live in Q3, 2024. This decentralized platform will be the first L2 network on Bitcoin to offer shared network ownership, powered by ZKM’s Entangled Rollup technology for enhanced security.
Decentralized Ownership Model of GOAT Network
Unlike other Bitcoin L2 networks, GOAT Network adopts a decentralized sequencer model, allowing sequencer nodes to earn yield on their BTC and network fees while securing the platform. Individuals ranging from Bitcoin miners to institutional stakeholders can apply to operate sequencer nodes, fostering an ecosystem run by partners and stakeholders.
Institutional Support and DApp Launch on GOAT Network
Five institutional node operators have committed 5,000 bitcoin to secure the network, with plans to attract more node operators for increased network liquidity. Additionally, GOAT Network anticipates the launch of several decentralized applications on its mainnet, including a decentralized exchange, perpetual swaps protocol, borrow/lend services, and zero-gas platform for BRC-20 token trading.
