Evolution Takes Legal Action Against Light & Wonder
Evolution has initiated legal proceedings against Light & Wonder for allegedly imitating their Lightning Roulette game. The lawsuit claims that Light & Wonder unlawfully utilized Evolution’s trade secrets associated with the Lightning Roulette game, leading to a conflict between the two parties. Evolution, a prominent company in the gaming industry, filed a complaint in a Nevada District Court on 28 May 2024, accusing Light & Wonder of using their confidential information for their own game variations.
Allegations of Trade Secret Misuse
The legal dispute centers on Evolution’s claims that Light & Wonder obtained sensitive information about Lightning Roulette during discussions between the companies. Evolution had been exploring a potential partnership with Light & Wonder’s subsidiary, LNW Gaming, to introduce a physical version of the game. However, Evolution alleges that Light & Wonder used this information to develop their own games, such as RouletteX and PowerX, thereby infringing on Evolution’s patents and intellectual property rights.
Legal Action and Patents Infringement
Evolution’s attorneys assert that Light & Wonder’s actions were intentional and detrimental to Evolution’s interests. The company seeks legal redress, including an injunction to prevent further infringement, compensation for damages, and reimbursement of legal expenses. Evolution contends that the termination of their partnership agreement with Light & Wonder in 2021 prompted the development of similar games by Light & Wonder, which led to the current legal confrontation.
